FCS 7: This course is for 7th grade students at Penns Manor.
Content: Students will learn introductory measuring, reading recipes, nutrition and cooking basics. They will learn financial literacy through a software program Banzai on chrome books. Students will also learn introductory hand sewing skills.
FCS 9: This course is for 9th grade students at Penns Manor
Content: Students will learn about purchasing, storage, preparation and nutrition of foods. They will also learn about eating disorders, health risks, financial literacy, food borne illnesses, decision making, and life skills.
Creative Foods I: This course is an elective for 10th-12th grade students at Penns Manor
Content: Students will learn about types of foods, purchasing, storage, preparation, and nutritional content of foods. Students will obtain higher level skills of food preparation within the course and get to express their creative side with foods.
Creative Foods II: This course is an elective and for any student who passed Creative Foods I
Content: Students will learn about advanced food skills and preparation. Students taking this course will work with foods that are not typical in everyday food preparation. They will be introduced to more skilled techniques of food preparation.
Parenting: This course is an elective for any 10th-12th grade student at Penns Manor
Content: Students will learn about Pregnancy, Delivery, Nutrition during pregnancy, Newborns, SIDS, Shaken Baby Syndrome, Birth Defects, Theorists in child care, and Caring for children throughout life.
Living on Your Own: This course is an elective for any 10th-12th grade student at Penns Manor
Content: Students will learn about living on their own, they will learn about careers, job applications, interviews, food preparation, nutrition, sewing, laundry, financial literacy, buying a home, paying taxes, and buying a car.
