OpenGate Detection System Random Screening Procedures
As part of the Penns Manor Area School District's ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment, the Junior-Senior High School will begin utilizing the OpenGate Detection System on random mornings throughout the school year.
The OpenGate system is a modern detection technology designed to help enhance school safety while allowing students, staff, and visitors to enter the building efficiently.
Please be aware of the following:
OpenGate screenings will occur on randomly selected days.
Student groups may be selected for screening on a random basis.
All students, staff, and visitors are expected to comply with screening procedures when requested.
Individuals will be directed to walk through the OpenGate detector as they enter the building.
If the system alerts while a person walks through the detector, school personnel will use a handheld screening wand to identify the item causing the alert.
School administration reserves the right to inspect items or conduct further screening when necessary and in accordance with district policies and school safety procedures.
The purpose of this screening process is prevention and deterrence. We appreciate the cooperation of our students, staff, parents, and community members as we continue to prioritize a safe educational environment for everyone.
Thank you for your support in helping keep our schools safe.
